The unconsecrated Gothic style Convict Church at Port Arthur, is where authorities sought to reform Port Arthur’s convicts through a regime of religious instruction and worship. Attendance of the weekly Sunday service was compulsory for the prison population. Critics of the system noted that this and other measures seemed to have negligible impact on reformation.

This image was taken in the early afternoon in January 2019, and with the sun beaming down on the church with the low shooting angle, it seemed to capture more than the subject suggests.

This image was shot on a Sony A7R Mk2 using Sony 16-35mm G Master Lens.
